Anit Aunendra Singh
YOUR NATIONAL SECRETARY
Anit is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, majoring in Political Science and Industrial Relations. Anit has previously worked for FB&FSEU from 1993 to 1996 as our Industrial Relations & Research Officer. After the 1996 NBF Strike (an adrenalin overdose) Anit left to pursue other interests, retraining to become a professional Chef and having worked in that profession in New Zealand and England. In pursuance of his hobbies in travelling, photography and fine cuisine, he has extensively travelled Europe, the Continent Africa, India & Malaysia.
Anit is of leftist inclination and a passionate Trade Unionist who loathes worker exploitation in any form or manner. He enjoyed his stint lecturing on Marx (and alternative perspective on economy, politics and law) at University of Fiji (2008-2011). He cites his most significant personal development experience as being the founder/camp coordinator of Girmit Center Refugee Camp in Lautoka (June 2000- October 2001).
Anit was elected the National Secretary of FB&FSEU in February 2021.
Usha Mangal
Finance Administrative Officer
Usha joined our Union on 1st of January 1990. She was the lone staff attending to needs of 1500 members, carrying out all administrative and membership register works, reception work and being part and parcel of all meetings and events of Union.
She has seen and been part of our Union’s growth and evolution over the years. Usha has been the pillar of strength behind all successive National Secretaries- Bob Kumar, Diwan Shankar, Pramod Rae, Sailesh Naidu and now Anit Singh. She has seen it all – from soft negotiations to extreme Union militancy of Strikes, Walkouts and Secretariat raids by Police.
Towards 1992 onwards, Usha’s Administrative duties included over-seeing the completion of our Union’s building (Kimberly & Gordon Street). She has effectively been our building’s property manager, attending to the needs/demands of the tenants and the usual upgrades and maintenance issues thereof.
Usha has designed our Union’s Annual Reports since 1990 – with the pride of doing the reports for our 40th and 50th anniversary celebrations – highlighting our Union’s achievements and history, ensuring the legacies of our Union gets passed on to present members.
Usha is not only our institutional memory – but the institute itself. All our Executive Council members (past and present) and co-workers, have always immensely respected Usha and acknowledged her professional contributions – to what – we proudly are today.

Serai Dikula

Serai is the smile of our office. And has been so since 1994. She has felt the brunt of pressures from various forces, at varied times, in her thirty-year long career in our Union. She has soldiered on uncomplainingly, smile intact.
PA to NS, receptionists, membership services, liaison person, record keeper, researcher, event planner and a true Unionist. Bravo!
